I'm 47, in peri menopause (probably!) and I have been sterilised for 5 years, also had endometrial ablation so I don't have periods, yay!
Before I had this, periods were heavy and crampy and about 9-10 days long. So I was given copper coil, made it worse. Then I was given mirena and I had absolutely black rage, felt miserable and depressed. Honestly the day after it was removed I was back to normal!
So GP and I think I'm in menopause now, (it's hard to confirm as I don't have periods but I have ALL the other symptoms)
She has prescribed Evorel 50 patches to be changed twice a day and Utrogestan 100 to be taken on two weeks of the month.
I understand the importance of progesterone in making sure the womb lining does not build up, but I don't have one!
I am seriously worried. I'm about to start a new job and I don't want to be in the black rage.

There are different types of progestins.

The one in the Mirena is not the same as micronised progesterone (in Utrogestan).

Utrogestan is a natural type, body-identical.

You might be fine! :)

Unless you have had a hysterectomy then you need it I assume.

Yes, she says I need it. I wish I didn't!
I did (jokingly) say the alternative was to have the whole lot whipped out so I didn't have to have progesterone and she was like Hmm
