Mirena and progesterone dose - help

I'm feeling really confused about quantities of progesterone and feeling like I should have paid more attention in maths and science at school Blush

So I'm on Qlaira which has varying amount of progesterone (diogenest) throughout the cycle but the majority of days are 3mg.

Im thinking of switching to mirena plus estrogen gel. Apparently mirena releases 20mcg of progesterone each day.

So does that mean that it's 0.2mg of progesterone? Or have I misunderstood?

That's a lot lower than my current dose. I've been hesitant about mirena a) because I've read horror stories about the progesterone making peri/PMS symptoms worse and b) because it's harder to get it removed if it doesn't work out than it is to just stop taking a pill.

But if the dose of progesterone is so much lower than my current pill, maybe I should stop worrying about it.

The Mirena is licensed for use as part of HRT. That's all you need to know.

It wouldn't be licensed if it didn't work.

And the only way to find out if it suits you is by trying it.

Don't overthink! :)

I do over think though @JinglingHellsBells Grin Probably more so when I'm feeling anxious which seems to be more and more often in perimenopause!
