Progesterone tablets for insomnia

I'm a month into taking HRT which is 11 days of progesterone tablets each month. - along with oestrogen. The night I break from them my sleep gradually declines for the first week then is back to being rubbish by the following week. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar?

I take Utrogestan for 12 days per month. I find it quite sedating and good for sleep. However when I stop taking it I get a kind of rebound insomnia for a few days; it feels like my heart is beating too fast and I get a horrible kind of anxiety...

Yes I get this too - I’m glad when I can get back to my 12 days it’s the only thing that works

I also find the progesterone helps with sleep. I used to take it for half the cycle (I think you can take it for 14 days) but now I take 1 a day together with the estrogen for the whole cycle and I feel great.
I think this way of taking the progesterone mimics what must happen with a coil. I think it’s worth enquiring with your doctor about taking it like this.

This sounds great - did your dr prescribe it?
