After hearing so many stories of women refused HRT by fearful doctors, I wanted to give a more positive one. I had a telephone appointment with my GP today and told her that I wanted her to prescribe oestrogen and progesterone and to refer me to a NhS menopause clinic for testosterone, all of which she agreed to with no questions asked.
I think the reason why is because I had attended a private menopause clinic (Louise Newson) and already had all these things prescribed. OK it was very expensive and not an option for everyone but it's quite difficult for them to argue once you can show you are already taking it and getting benefits.
