Utrogestan

I'm on my first cycle of HRT and have just started the utrogestan stage. The gel worked wonders for me so far but 3 days into taking the utrogestan, I feel like giving up. I'm angry and tearful and feel worse than I did without it.

Also, the advice is to take it on an empty stomach before bed, which never happens!

Please advise! Will it get better?

Just to add: I did get a full nights sleep with it, which is a miracle! Just a shame I woke up tearful.

You may feel a lot better once your body gets used to it. Like a lot of medication, side effects are common at first and often decrease.

Two things:

1 Taking it with food means the strength is increased, which for some women means more side effects. Can you not eat earlier so you get at least 2 hours with no food before taking it? I use it vaginally now, but when I was using it orally I'd eat no later than 7pm and take it around 10-11pm.

2 If you still get side effects, you can use the capsules vaginally. You just insert them as high as possible, again before bed.

@JinglingHellsBells THANK YOU! I didn't know that a full stomach increased the strength! That's really interesting.

I will try again on an empty stomach and eat earlier.

Update: I took it on an empty stomach last night and did not wake up tearful. Hopefully I'll not progesterone intolerant after all.
