No period since 2nd covid jab

I had my 2nd covid jab in May and haven't had a period since.

I'm 49 and up til then havent missed any periods before. My cycle was unpredictable varying between 22-25 days in length but this is now well over 100 days since my last period.

Is it likely to be that I am in menopause? Could it have been triggered by the vaccine?

DNiece hasn't had a period since her first Covid jab in May. She's 21, was always previously very regular. Has logged with yellow card scheme but doctor just said he was sure it would turn up eventually.
There is a lot online about early / late periods and super heavy period but very little about when they haven't come at all. She is concerned about future fertility.

I am 40 and had my 2nd Pfizer jab in May.

Periods regular as ever.

I think you've likely found a coincidence. Or maybe an interaction with the immune response and peri menopause.

Were you TTC at 49?

If you're experiencing menopause symptoms it might be time to see your GP.

Same here. No period since vaccine in early May. I’m convinced it’s related and have yellow carded it

winterchills · 17/09/2021 20:22

This is very weird because now I've also realised I haven't had a period since my 2nd jab 2 months ago!

Kayl23 · 17/09/2021 20:35

My sister also hasn't had a period since her second jab and she's 30. It seems to be quite a common problem actually which is worrying! I decided not to get it as we were TTC and I'm so glad I didn't for this reason! Now pregnant and also not wanting to get it at the moment, there just seems to be more and more bad side effects appearing

tidesley · 17/09/2021 21:24

It could be a coincidence I suppose. I am most definately not pregnant.

No period for 90 days. Last period just finished when I had 2nd AZ jab. I am 45 yrs old, possibly perimenopausal. However they were quite regular, until the 2nd jab. My daughter, 20 yrs old, had AZ jabs early on (SEN/autism) before they scrapped AZ for under 40s. Been 2 bleeds some months since 2nd jab. Both yellow carded.

DominicRaabsTravelAgent · 17/09/2021 22:22

Same here. Had second jab in May and then no AF till this month. Could be a coincidence but seems a huge coincidence when so many people are reporting it.

MyCatDribbles · 17/09/2021 22:24

This is why I don’t understand why they say it doesn’t affect fertility, at least in the short term. If periods are being missed, surely it means ovulation is not happening?

LauriePink · 18/09/2021 17:20

I've been plunged into perimenopause anxiety, insomnia, hot flushes very suddenly since second pfizer jab and had suspicions of a link. Have just yellow carded it since I saw evidence of period disruption from jabs in the news. It seems feasible to me that the immune response could have triggered perimenopause. Really struggling with acute symptoms and have been signed off work, now on HRT.

Thing is with this, is that's the age that my periods got erratic, just due to the menopause, think when I was 49 I hade 6 months period free and then they came back for a while, at your age it really could just be coincidence....
Opentooffers · 18/09/2021 22:35

I'm 50, had 2nd jab in June, gone back to my usual 30 day cycle, which had changed to 26 days and heavier after having covid and before the jab. So hey, the jab fixed me, must be good - or maybe it's coincidence Hmm. Had people very sick in critical care as they didn't get the jab in case it affected their fertility or pregnancy, however, whatever the jab may or may not do, there's a higher chance of covid really messing your health up, to the extent of whether you'll survive or not. Peoples choice to decide their risk ultimately, and NHS staff will carry on picking up the pieces, it is frustrating though when you see avoidable deaths, all because they feared the jab - fear covid, it's a nasty disease, and may well mess with your fertility just as much.

LauriePink · 19/09/2021 08:10

Totally agree, have no regrets whatsoever about taking jab and would urge others to do same. Just keen to contribute to any research about whether jabs have hitherto unknown side effects. Fully understand that timing for me could very well all be a coincidence (I'm 47).

twolittleboysonetiredmum · 04/10/2021 21:04

I’m 40 and before the jab had periods like clockwork. Had first in May - they went very erratic. Second jab in July and no period since. No idea if they’re linked but gp has referred me for tests today to check if I’m menopausal or not. No idea if it can be linked to vaccine but early menopause is not in my family history and I had no symptoms beforehand. Slightly worried but not much I can do. I’d like to read about someone’s who have come back though :)

Iggly · 04/10/2021 21:06

My period was late after my first jab and the cycles were longer. My last period was incredibly intense - I had bad cramps, heavy bleeding and it was all done in a day!?!? I’ve never had such a period before. I’ve had Pfizer and I’m 40 🤨

Iggly · 04/10/2021 21:06

I wish they’d actually research this properly ffs.
