Increasing oestrogen

Hi,
I have been on HRT since the end of July, taking 1mg of Sandrena oestrogen gel a day, and 200mg of progesterone for the first 12 days of each calendar month. So far, it's helped my hot flushes a lot, I tend to have a little more energy than before, and with the progesterone I have been sleeping so much better.

However, I've felt the return of some of the hot flushes in the last couple of weeks. Nothing like before, but I still get drippy at times! Getting an appointment with the GP is a nightmare here - mine is actually a Dr at our local menopause clinic and is very knowledgeable, but getting a chance to speak to her is difficult in the extreme. I will try but I wanted to see if anyone out there had had a similar experience and then increased a little to a higher dose of oestrogen?

Also - might sound strange but has anyone had severe dry eyes with menopause? I am struggling so badly with this - my eyes feel bone dry if I wake up at night to go to the loo. I can't bear to open them for a more than a second at a time until they start tearing. I've tried every eye drop out there, eye masks, etc but nothing helps. Desperate!

I've heard dry eyes is a common syptom.

I can't advise regarding oestrogen but I'm in a lower dose as I had terrible breast tenderness and bloating on the full dose

My hot flushes have gone but I also take menopace and sage and they stop the hot flushes before I even went on hRT

Oh, I am sorry to read that. I feel a little bloated but am unsure if that's just me. I've been trying to follow a low FODMAP diet after an abdominal episode in April but the bloating comes back occasionally.

Which Menopace do you take? I take the standard vitamins, plus some Omega-3 and potassium supplements, as I tested a little low for that too.

Glad the sage worked for you - alas, it didn't for me. :-(

@dunant173 Oestrogel ( the other option to Sandrena) has a stating dose of 1.5mgs estrogen. You might want to swap to that if you can as it is in a pump not a sachet, which means you can pump out approx half a dose and increase your dose gradually.

Meanwhile, you could try a sachet and a half of sandrena. No one really needs 'permission' to increase the dose because unless you are going up to a huge amount ( some women use 3mgs) it's safe to increase transdermal estrogen by small increments.
