I have early menopause aged 42. Symptoms have been severe mood swings, insomnia, tiredness, brain fog, loss of concentration, anxiety. Tried HRT but the combi patch sent me into full on unable-to-get-out-of-bed depression. I've stopped the HRT now but I do intend to try a different prescription in a little while.
At present I work full time in a well paid job I normally enjoy but over the past few months have lost interest in. I suspect this is a result of the menopause symptoms. I was planning to request part time working for a year so I can work on my diet and exercise and mental health and also have more time to support my DC through the 11+.
Out of the blue one of the managers has resigned and I have been offered the job. I was due this promotion but wasn't expecting it for a year. I am not really a people person so I know the managerial position will be stressful though I am also excited to progress and the associated salary hike will also be very welcome.
I am torn whether to ask for part time working and concentrate on myself at a time where I am struggling to cope. Or go for the promotion which will help me in the long run and will also help out my boss who has been brilliant with all sorts of issues in the past - including giving me three weeks paid off work when the HRT disagreed with me.
Could I ask for part time work and the managerial position? It would be my first manager position though I am a highly skilled individual contributor with 20 years experience.
