Cure for brain fog/crap memory?

My brain fog isn't going away, despite oestrogel and a Mirena coil.

It's been bad for the past few years. My memory is getting worse. I can function day to day, but things like actors' names, film titles, interesting stuff I read in the paper, holiday memories, etc, are rubbish.

Weirdly, my brother (2 years older than me) suffers from this, and my mum (now 80) has a terrible memory.

Is there a way to fix this? It's really getting me down.

Sometimes memories can be lodged more firmly into the brain by revisiting them. If you're chatty and sociable, this is often done through speech - discussing the film you watched last night or the holiday you went on last month with your neighbour, your hairdresser and your best friend, may result in better recall.

If you tend to be more reserved and don't have lengthy discussions about what you've been doing with multiple people, try keeping a daily journal and write (strangely, typing doesn't seem to help the memory in quite the same way) a detailed account of your day each evening. The process of recalling what you did during the day and then writing it down ("think in ink") can help with memory formation.

Some of it ageing- short term memory declines for most people.

You need to exercise your brain just like the rest of your body- learn something new, read, learn a language maybe, and also get exercise to improve circulation to the brain.

Being very serious- if it continues, it's worth seeing your Dr to make sure it's not the start of something more serious like a form of dementia. They can do simple tests to monitor your memory.
