Pcos and menopause

I’m 44 and wondering about the perimenopause. I have pcos and always have very irregular periods, ranging from 30 to 60 day cycles. How will I know if I’m in the perimenopause?? Will I have to just add up any other symptoms I have? I am very teary, anxious and have started having back stiffness. I’m like this most days. I don’t know if I’m just suffering with low mood or whether it’s perimenopause.

Can anyone share their experience of pcos and menopause? Does it affect diagnosis? Thanks xx

I have pcos, but my periods went regular after I had my son (17 years ago) . Well, more regular, 30-35 day cycle, occasionally longer. So, the past year my periods got closer together - 26 days - also heavier, more painful. Then about a week before, I have a night of total insomnia, followed by generally poor sleep running up to period as frequent night sweats. All in all, not a fan of 2nd half of the month, it's downhill from ovulation till period becomes comfortable enough to not disrupt sleep. So overall, I spend a lot of the time knackered, and yes, more general aches, headaches ( rarely ever got those). So go off the symptoms, not the length of cycle, as time goes on, there are more crap things to add to the list - brain fog, forgetfulness etc. Mind you, I'm 50, so expecting it - difficult though when working full time and a single parent, can't have time off for it.
