Evorel sequi - 2 x prescription charges?

I started taking Evorel Sequi last month (seems to be working well, especially with the rage, anxiety and depression). I’ve just collected my second box and been charged £18.90 (two prescription charges) because it’s apparently two different items in the box! Has anyone else had this?

Actually, a quick google has confirmed that this is correct! I’m flabbergasted that this is the case.
I’ve so discovered Carolyn Harris’ private members bill to make such treatment free on the NHS, so maybe there is hope.
Also need to ask my GP to prescribe more than one month at a time

Get a pre pay prescription. It's about £10 a month.

Redcrayons · 20/08/2021 12:55

Yep same for me. Pharmacist was quite apologetic about it.

GP prescribed 3 months for this reason.

I had this, before I got a pre-payment certificate- they can prescribe in bulk and that does help

But if you have any more regular prescriptions it’s really worth getting the prepayment cert

You apply online and I think it’s immediately available

Thanks, I’ll look into the pre-pay. I was just astounded really.

I was too! And it was when I was sooooo broke too. I was really upset cos it was money I really didn’t need to spend

Mind you, my HRT now is classed as a contraceptive so I think it’s free now.

I just encountered the same! How unfair is this? I don’t know who to complain to. Did you find any more info on this?
Thanks

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 07/11/2021 17:30

This is such a load of shite. It's bad enough you have to pay for prescriptions at all.
Is it the box where both kinds of patches (sequi/50) are in together?
It is clearly one product like the triphasic contraceptive pill - how on earth has it been classified that way.

I think there was another thread about prescription charges for hrt recently or I saw an article or something.

I started HRT in August last year. My GP prescribed me it because I was experiencing hot flushes, night sweats and sleepless nights. I was told I will stop bleeding. I had a heavy bleed in October. I spoke with my GP in November. She told me the bleeding was due to me missing changing the patches on the same days each week. I made sure I changed the patches regularly on the same days after that. But again I started bleeding again in Nov, Dec and Jan. I spoke with another GP at my GP surgery who referred me for an USS. It came back that my uterus was thickened. So my GP referred me to a gynaecologist. The gynaecologist was surprised that my GP didn’t ask me to have a uterine USS before starting HRT. The USS showed a 4cm polyp. I have just had a polypectomy to have this removed.

Has anyone had the same problems after starting HRT.

I argued with the pharmacist that if there is one one named prescription why should we pay for two. He said it’s government guidelines. It’s so unfair as I asked my GP to prescribe me for three months and has to pay for two prescriptions.

When is the government going to do something about this as it’s unfair we have to pay for HRT Do reopen pay for birth control?

Njhart · 22/01/2023 11:18

I’ve had the same it’s one box but with 2 different patches. Seems little unfair really.

Evorel sequi - 2 x prescription charges?
Nixer · 22/01/2023 12:19

Yes it counts as 2 medications (Evorel 50 and Evorel Conti), fortunately my GP warned me about it so I got a prepay before collecting it. Another option is to use Mirena or desogestrel x 2 as the progesterone side of it, both of which are free and then just have Evorel 50 which is a single prescription charge.
