HRT, on progesterone break, but no period

I've been taking sequi HRT for a few months but this month my period is late / missing. What do I do if it doesn't turn up? Start taking progesterone again the scheduled day, or wait longer, or something else?

I’m onto month two of mine, part of the reason I asked for hrt was because I was having two periods a month so I was either menstruating or had terrible pmt. I’ve had no bleed at all and, like you was wondering. Dr google says that some people bleed some don’t but I thought the pills were supposed to stop the lining of your womb thickening so I assumed that would result in a bleed. Sorry not much help but am interested in others experience.

Thank you, I was told that the progesterone break was to bring on a bleed, and that it was potentially a health risk to not bleed while on this kind of HRT, so I wasn't expecting this!

My consultant said that my periods would be all over the place for the first few months using the 14-day progesterone, but that they should gradually settle.

Oh mine had been bang on schedule the last two months so I thought I had cracked it! Thanks for that insight.

I’ve been on it for 2 months now. First month my period came in the second week before I started the progesterone ones. This time I’m on the last progesterone patch and still nothing. I’m not sure it’s an exact science once things are already a bit of a muddle before you start!

Just reviving this. My period is 8 days late and I don't know when to start progesterone. Should it just be taken in the luteal stage? Not sure if it's going to turn up at all! Do I stick to the timing or wait until cycle day 12?

My period is 8 days late and I don't know when to start progesterone.

Well, if you are having sex, you should do a pregnancy test.

Otherwise, you take it 4 weeks after you took the first tablet in the last cycle eg if it was a Tuesday, take it 4 weeks later on a Tuesday.

Oestrogen causes the lining of your womb to thicken, the progesterone helps your body to breakdown and shed the lining and you'd usually expect to have a bleed towards the end of the progesterone phase or at the start of the next cycle. Not all women will have a bleed and it may be irregular for the first few months.

You should take the progesterone phase as prescribed, even if you don't have a bleed, as it protects against uterine cancer (basically if lining is thickening without progesterone to break it down there is a higher risk of abnormal cells developing)

Thank you. I'm definitely not pregnant.

I will weird if I have to take progesterone if I'm on my period but I'll stick to the cycle and hope it regulates eventually!
