Can menopause cause B.O ?

I have terrible B.O these days, and I am feeling a little self conscious.
I am 55 so could it be a symptom of the menopause, or something else?
If it is the menopause, what deodorant has helped, or any other treatment?

Yeah, shit isn't it?

Shower with bats of soap not shower gel and I've found Sure Maximum Protection stick really good.

oooh how cute would a Bat Of Soap be??

I have never been particularly sweaty but I do find I must use a decent deodorant every day since hitting the fifties or I feel stinky and whiffy by bed time

I use a stick, and get it rubbed in, I cannot be doing with roll ons or sprays. Usually Dove or Mitchum.

cushioncovers · 13/08/2021 18:47

Yes I have had Bo for about two years now started when I was around 49.

Rainallnight · 13/08/2021 18:56

Oh that’s interesting. I’m peri and have been distinctly whiffy lately, when this is never normally a problem for me.

Kwackerly · 13/08/2021 19:00

Yes it does. Sure maximum protection works excellently though. Another joy menopause brings, eh!

IncognitoMucho · 13/08/2021 19:05

Hmmmm, not just me then 😧
Ok, I’ve put Mitchum Dove and Sure maximum protection stick on my list, thank you.
It’s crap isn’t it?
I find myself with my arms down straight next to my body.
😂😂 at bats of soap.

Perimenopausal but dear god can I stink. It’s awful and only ever one armpit but showering doesn’t help for long. It’s so embarrassing

JaneJeffer · 13/08/2021 19:10

Couldn't resist!

Someone on here recommended Triple Dry and it's very good.

I found this a problem until I started hrt.
Mitchum is good.

Bagelsandbrie · 13/08/2021 19:20

Yep I sweat like an absolute trooper now. Mitchum solid anti perspirant is very good. I shower every morning and wash so well but I am still really self conscious.

I’ve never really considered HRT, certainly something I’ll be thinking about, thank you.

If you’re interested in HRT google the Newson Health clinic website and the associated website menopause doctor. Lots of good factsheets and resources.

Bought some Mitchum yesterday, didn’t wake up with soggy armpits. I can’t smell anything either 🙂🙂

I'm 49 and I have suddenly experienced this too. The deodorant sticks I use don't work so obvs need Sure Max Prottection!

Rainallnight · 16/08/2021 07:45

As well as BO, my scalp is getting greasier. Is menopause turning me into a teenager? Confused

BooseysMom · 19/08/2021 05:17

@Rainallnight.. me too! It's bizarre. I don't get the acne any more though!

bert3400 · 19/08/2021 05:43

Me too...never had a BO problem before but the last month it's got so bad. I've turned to Mitcham along with 2 showers a day and all seems to be good . I'm 53 and on HRT

IncognitoMucho · 19/08/2021 06:04

I changed shampoo and soap due to breaking out in hives.
My skin went so dry and itchy, I broke out in hives.

I now use SLS sulphate and paraben free products and that seemed to clear it up.

I haven’t got acne yet, maybe I should invest in a baseball cap and wear it back to front just in case😁😁😁😁.

But seriously… the Mitchum stick really helps.

Good to hear Mitchum works for you too.

I am thinking of HRT, but Holland and Barrett have some menopause capsules in that I might try fIrst.
A Vogel is the manufacturer and gets good reviews.

Sorry, I appear to have mentioned hives twice upthread ⬆️ 🙄.
Maybe it was bothering me more than I thought….
