Mirena but not Oestrogen, what symptoms did you have and did Oestrogen help?

I have the mirena in so no periods which is fab, but trying to work out where i am peri menopausally. I'm 45, and for the last 6mths have had sore boobs, gained weight despite improving my diet, aching joints first thing in the morning, waking at 5am, and most of all, feel very crotchety. I'll probably ask my gp if I can check my thyroid as that went off kilter a few years back, but has been fine since. I know everyone is different, but did anyone feel similarly with the mirena, and improve with Oestrogen?

I was like this til three months ago, then watched the Davina programme and asked my GP for Oestrogel.

My general mood has improved SO MUCH - I am much less angry/shouty/anxious, and the sore boobs have gone too. Other symptoms I had eg itchy skin, poor sleep, feeling ANCIENT have also improved.

On the downside I have gained weight with the oestrogen - a common symptom. Not a lot, and my boobs have got bigger which is great, but my jeans are tight and I need to do more exercise to burn it off.

I definitely identify with Feeling Ancient! That sounds positive that the angst/ shoutiness has gone. Not so keen on more weight gain, but will be better than this constant hormonal feeling.
