So so sweaty! 🥵

For the past couple of years I’ve suffered with extreme sweating with even mild exercise.
It’s mainly my face and head and don’t have to be doing anything mad. Just a bit of hoovering, sedate wander with the dog etc.

I’m literally dripping and hair is soaked!

Could this be menopause related? I’m 50 and still having regular periods. Not sleeping great and getting hot spells at night but too bad.

I’ve gained about 2 stone due to my decreased activity to try and keep it under control!

I wouldn’t call it hot flushes, I don’t think, but it’s certainly excessive and doesn’t take much to set me off.

Is it worth battling a GP appointment?
It’s making me miserable Sad

Has anyone else experienced this with menopause?

I’m the same. I’m assuming menopause but like you, regular periods. It’s really embarrassing how much sweat pours from my head!

Witchinthesticks · 15/07/2021 20:06

It is awful isn’t it! In hot weather I can barely move!
I wonder if this is something HRT may help with?

O M G YES! This is me! It has ruined my life.

Even my 6yr old knows that Mummy has to cool down and dry off after doing anything at all, before I can do anything else.
I haven't worn make up in years and cannot even let my hair down, despite having had it cut to shoulder length. I'm just constantly SCORCHING and have a drenched face, head & back. It's horrific.
Doctors gave me Propantheline about 15 years ago but it just dries my mouth & private parts out horrendously and just occasionally stops the sweating for about an hour. They tried to send me to a Dermatologist but as predicted, my skin is not the issue!

I've been like this since I was 16 (& thin!!) so I doubt it's Menopause but the doctors just won't do anything. There is an OP you can have to switch off your sweating somehow(?) but my area won't operate on ANYONE who is even mildly overweight! So that's me out.

I can't even make any progress on major housework as after 3/4 mins the floodgates just open and I'm sat in front of a fan - again!!! Even in winter it's still prevalent. I'm the only person round here who drives around with the air-con on in the middle of the winter!!!

Totally destroyed my life Sad

Rockbird · 15/07/2021 22:07

Me too. The rest of me isn't too bad although I hate the heat but I constantly have a sweaty face, neck, head and hair. Fan is on in winter, and, despite having recently started a new job they already know to have fans on and heating off if I'm anywhere near. It's ruining my life too. I'm 49, very few periods which might just be the dying effect of my elderly Mirena, not sure where I am with the menopause.

Witchinthesticks · 15/07/2021 22:12

Since you were 16?! That’s awful!
It’s only been a couple of years for me and I’m miserable.

There must a reason for it. Sad

I’ve tried using Oderban, a spray to stop sweating, but although I can put it on my face, I can’t easily cover my scalp.
It wasn’t greatly effective.

You are bound to be experiencing some menopausal symptoms at 50. HRT has stopped my hot flushes/night sweats and I feel so much better for it. I've been on it since I was 44.

NiceGerbil · 15/07/2021 22:40

I would think so given its new

NiceGerbil · 15/07/2021 22:40

Hormonal changes can have loads of different effects

No harm in seeing the doc

Bekind19 · 16/07/2021 16:06

Oh this is me. Absolutely soaking all the time. Wake up have to change bed too 😮. Perimenopausal for 4 years. Started menopause a year ago I'm now 51. Taking lots of other medications as I have IBD so doctor said hrt is not advisable. I'm just hormonal & sweaty 🥵😡. Any advice gladly received 🤔

Bekind19 · 16/07/2021 16:08
