Is it time?

I'm 46, peri symptoms for probably 2 years, hot flushes, brain fog, joint aches, increased PMT, insomnia, shortened/unpredictable cycle and itchy skin, all increasing in severity over the 2 years but still at (just about) manageable levels. I've been weighing up whether to ask for HRT for a while and wondered how other women decide when the time is right?

My current period is what's making me ask, I had 3 months with nothing (bliss!) and I'm now paying for the break with a (so far) 13 day mega-heavy bleed which I'm now heartily sick of Angry This has only happened once before, 8 weeks with nothing last time and then a 14 day horror of a period last October and then back to my normal cycle in between. I know it's my decision but would you say it's time? I do tend to be a grin and bear it type and hate seeing/speaking to the doctor so just wondering if I'm hesitating when I shouldn't be? I'm not on any hormonal contraception btw and not keen on the idea of a mirena in case that's relevant.
