I've been happily on HRT for 3 years. Why do I now need a blood test?

So I have to go into today to be weighed, get BP done and have a blood test before being prescribed my HRT. I'm feeling really quite cross (so no doubt BP will be high...). What on earth is the blood test for??

No idea- ask the dr :)

It's not usual.

They didn't know why they needed to do it so didn't Hmm

BP really high so refused to renew the prescription anyway. Great. I've got a sibling having a breakdown and calling me 15 x a day and night, work problems and probably no job in October and my parents have refused to have the vaccine and one now has Covid. Plus four teenagers at home. Christ alive no HRT is not going to help my mood.

So how has it been left?

I think your drs sound pretty hopeless with this.

You aren't supposed to stop HRT suddenly- that has risks as well. The current advice is to taper off it over a few months.

Your GP ought to offer advice on your BP, loan you a BP monitor, or you can buy your own and read it at home over a few days.

If it's still very high, they should talk about meds for it.

If it's white coat syndrome, then home BP tests will show you are really ok.

Also, high BP is not a contraindication for most women especially using patches or gel.

The guidance is to carry on with HRT but either prescribe BP lowering meds, or monitor the readings over a week etc.

I have to take bp twice daily for a week then send it in

My gp has always been reallygood about HRT not sure why all this is happening now, its really annoying
