Leaking liquid - is this menopause related

I am in peri-menopause. Recently I have started to leak liquid occasionally from my vulva. Its quite a lot, it runs down my leg, and is thin and watery. Its a bit like if I wee'd myself a bit, but I don't think I am wetting myself. It recently happened in an intimate moment, which was embarrassing! When it happens doesn't seem related to anything - it just happens without warning. Has anyone else had this?

Me, I'm 46 and definitely in peri so assume it's related but no idea why it happens. Hoping you get some other replies that will shed some light for both of us Smile

I'm in the later stages of Peri and had a stage where this happened too. I can't remember how long it lasted, maybe a few months but it has now completely stopped.

Its weird, huh?

Does anyone know what that liquid actually is?!

Hope this reply isn’t too late but I had this strange symptom for a while. I thought it was a really bothersome discharge but all tests came back negative and trying treatments for just about anything never worked. It would make me sore and uncomfortable.

Then I had some post menopausal bleeding and had a hysteroscopy where some polyps were removed.

It magically cured me so I assume it was the polyps where is you think about it they are submucosal growths so could very well leak fluid

Worth a thought. By the way, the relief was phenomenal, I hadn’t realised how much it was getting me down

Me too! Have had this for past 18-24 months, late 40s, regular periods still.
Have had blood tests, ultrasound and hysteroscopy to investigate fibroids and ovarian cysts during this time, and nothing sinister has been found (just fibroids, which are annoying but not terrible).

The gynaecologists and GPs I've asked about it don't have an explanation for the discharge, but aren't worried. It has been extremely annoying as I need to wear a pad all the time just in case - if there's a gush of liquid it can soak my pants.

I've started using estriol cream for perimenopausal dryness over last 2 months and there does seem to be less discharge now - not sure if estriol has solved a problem or if it's just a coincidence.

This was how my vaginal atrophy started. Stopped with HRT and topical oestrogen

Is it after a bath? (Even hours after?)

I had this during peri, it was resolved with the removal of a fibroid.
