Hello,
I wonder if anyone could advise me on HRT. I have recently started on this, having not had a period for over a year. It arrived in the post today. My confusion is on the label it says to take one capsule every evening, whereas in the leaflet inside it says take 2 capsules on days 15-26. Does anyone know which is correct. Really don't want to have to try to get through to the GP. TIA.

Both can be correct. It depends on your own circumstances and whether you have additional progesterone- for example, the mini pill or mirena coil. You have to follow your own specialists advice. I take 100mg utrogestan daily (no break/ all the time), the mini pill daily and 3 pumps of oestrogel.

Re reading your post I would go with what’s on the label as this is specific to you.

JinglingHellsBells · 25/06/2021 15:01

The regimes are

1 Daily, or most days of the month, 100mgs for women using continuous combined HRT. This is for women with no natural period for 12 months.

2 12 days per month using 200mgs each of those days (2 capsules) for women not as above. (With some natural cycles still happening.)

Hello @Bagelsandbrie Thank you for replying. I have an Oestrogen patch Evorel 75. Thee only other medication I take is thyroxine. I have just had an email back from the pharmacy and they have said I need to contact my GP. He was the one who wrote one to be taken every day. I was reading online and it seems you need to have a 3 day break every 28 days if you do this but unsure.

Hello @JinglingHellsBells thank you for your reply. I am group one. As I said before I read online that you take one every evening for 25 days, then have a three day break. Does this sound right to you? My GP told me to take one every evening, nothing about a 3 day break.

Sorry to be a pain, but do you know if this means I will start getting bleeding on those 3 days I have the break? I was quite enjoying no periods.
Thank you.

I'm on Utrogeston and Oestrogel.

I take both every day without a break

Bagelsandbrie · 25/06/2021 19:25

I never, ever have a break. So no 3 day break. But then I take the mini pill for contraception as well. Maybe that’s an option if you don’t want periods at all? I never have periods.

Winnona · 25/06/2021 20:11

@Tulipomania that is interesting, maybe that is what I am meant to do as the label just says take one in the evening, It sounds the same as you. How are you finding it?

@Bagelsandbrie I didn't think I was meant to have a break from what my GP said. Definately don't want periods if I can avoid them!!

I think I will start on one in the evening and email my GP, to see if I am meant to have a break, The pharmacy wasn't very helpful,

Thank you both.

@Winnona no question that HRT has transformed my life for the better!

I take my Utrogeston in the evening too, and use the Oestrogel in the morning.

pink1173 · 26/06/2021 07:13

I had this when I started back in last July. I started taking it with a three day break but recently had some bleeding and was investigated by a Gynaecologist. He said to take without a break if I hadn’t had a period In over 12 months.

Winnona · 26/06/2021 08:27

Great to hear @Tulipomania !!

Oh good @pink1173 every day, & no period sounds fantastic! I haven't had a period for over 18 months now & was not missing them at all!!
