HRT that doesn't cause weight gain

So I'm 54 and working full time. Sleep
Is hit and miss and I'm getting a few hot flushes a day (nothing at night) ... my main problem is anxiety, irritability, and utter and complete exhaustion all the time. For the first time ever I'm wondering whether HRT might help my energy levels. However, I have read it can lead to additional weight gain (beyond the expected norm of that age range). What is the overall experience of HRT on energy and wellbeing and weight? Would love to hear your verdicts.

I'm getting desperate to go on HRT because of fatigue and mood swings - I'm so excited to read that so many of you have found it helps. I'm waiting for a referral to the menopause clinic because my hormonal history is complicated. Waiting is painful...

Hi @Dylan52 I have had the same symptoms - really sore big breasts. Caused by the progesterone I take half cycle. I even bought bigger bras to wear half the month! After a few months they stopped aching. Been on cyclical HRT now for 6 months - Sandrena gel and Utrogestan tablets which I use vaginally. Still dislikethe progesterone weeks - the last few days I feel very bloated and premenstrual. The benefits still outweigh the side effects for me though as I was feeling exhausted and flu- like half the month before HRT.

Sorry to hijack with a question....but does anyone know if the patches stay intact ok when you go swimming - say in the water for a long time being very active/in the shower/exercising please?

I have just started on tablets, but in fact I would prefer the progesterone patches - if they adhere ok?

@cymrukernow yeah I get that . I’m now on day 9 of my period ...normally they’d last 3-4 days but now it’s 9 abd no signs of stopping either . the oestrogel really helped but I’ve stopped last few days .. I’m going to go back to my GP and ask for more help . I definitely need it because I was in great form 3 weeks also .. felt like me again it was so incredible.. all my friends abd my husband said you look so well .. but I can’t deal with this now and my breasts are so sore again this morning even without taking the gel for 3 days ... such a Dan shame . Thoughts of cracked it ! Keep on going hey .. I’ll hopefully find my magic formula

I'm on oestrogel and a Mirena and have had no weight gain.

I am very careful about diet and exercise, during the week, at least.

I think I developed a bloated belly for a bit.Now I'm comfortably in my size 10 jeans with no belly.
I have ditched alcohol gone v low sugar and work 12 hours a day though .
I think her lifts the depression and gives me more energy to do more hence I stay slim.
