Hi ladies-
I 49 and I think in the throes of perimenopause. For the past year and a bit my periods are shorter and much heavier- flooding and last up to 10 days.
I have had some strange new symptoms but one which has recently began is pins abd needles feeling and prickly skin. Kind of feels like a shiver but mainly get it in my arms and legs. I also notice and after I can’t go long sitting (especially with crossed legs) before I get that foot asleep feeling. It goes away as soon as I begin moving but it is really annoying. I have varicose veins which I need to treat that perhaps are contributing to this but the general prickly pins and needles feeling is bothersome. I notice it worse a week before my period.
Has anyone else had anything similar?
Not sure whether to investigate ( I have very bad health anxiety so avoiding if I can) or if it is a common perimenopause symptom.

I've had this. Not really itchy skin (which I've always had) but prickly as you describe. It drove me mad while I had it.
Sounds like you're in perimenopause

I've absolutely heard many people mention prickly skin as an issue. And how annoying it is.

I'm in Ireland. A couple of months ago perimenopause / menopause became a huge topic on a particular phone-in radio show. Woman after woman telling their story. It was amazing. Really opened up the conversation - and persuaded me to go my GP rather than accepting the situation.

Anyway, prickly skin came up a lot.

(I get really itchy skin, just at night. It's annoying but manageable).

I get this. I've finally after 2 years of painful joints, non sleeping, sweats, anxiousness , brain fog etc etc I'm finally on mirena + HRT. Didn't pick up on this symptom but definitely had it.
Hammer on your GP's door until they do something.
Good luck x

I was looking on this board because I have been having something like you describe - like waves of goosebumps. Mainly on my legs and at night. It was so bad the other night, I thought I was coming down with a bug.

Currently mapping all my symptoms on the balance app and building up the courage to approach the GP about HRT!

I get this too, including the dead foot thing. Magnesium salt baths seem to help the crawling skin

Thank you for your replies. It is interesting that this seems to be a hormonal thing. It certainly is worse for me a week before my period. All these strange symptoms. The not knowing what it is is what causes me the most angst. Knowing that this could be likely due to a hormonal shift makes me feel better.
