Menopause/ HRT and pelvic pain

Just after some advice please. I'm 48, and have been on HRT for a couple of years. For the last 2 weeks I have had severe crampy pelvic pain. There is no bleeding at all. I am taking paracetamol, ibuprofen and codeine, and it isn't touching the sides of the pain. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Any stories much appreciated. I have a telephone doctor's appointment next week, but am fearing the worst. Dr Google doesn't help!

Maybe stop taking pain killers? Codeine is addictive and you aren't supposed to use it for more than a couple of days.

Could it be your bowels? Is it possibly IBS or something similar? Are you constipated or have any unusual bowel symptoms?

FWIW, women's cancers (ovarian, womb) don't usually cause pain. So try to stop thinking that!

It's much more likely to be bowel related.

Thanks for replying. I've only had codeine the last couple of days, as the pain has ramped up. I don't seem to have any bowel issues. I will see what the doctor says next week. Thanks again

Definitely stop the codeine.
If it’s too bad to wait for your appointment, ring on Monday morning for an earlier appointment saying that the pain is much worse.

What kind of pain is it? Is it there all the time? Does it come and go? Do you have IBS- that you know of? Are you using sequential HRT- the one that gives a withdrawal bleed- or continuous?

It's there all the time. I take Elleste Duet 1mg, so I think its 16 days of oestrogen and 12 days of progesterone. I haven't taken any more codeine. I don't have IBS. Feels very much gynaecological in nature, no bleeding at all though.
