Perimenopause, huge breasts...

Turkishangora · 03/06/2021 17:34

I'm in perimenopause land, have put on 3kg just because, no change to diet or exercise so assume it's hormones. The issue I have is it all seems to have gone on my breasts, they are huge (for me) and I hate it. Also lots of extra armpit overhang. All my jeans/skirts etc still fit fine, no extra weight on tummy or thighs/glutes. Some people might think this sounds great but I hate it, all my tops, dresses and bras are too tight for me, I look matronly and feel like Les Dawson in those sketches he used to do. Im used to being a c cup. Now a double d. Happened to anyone else?

No. My breasts have shrunk but my belly makes me look pregnant.

Opentooffers · 06/06/2021 00:32

I've gone from DD, to E, so it could be worse Wink

I have gone from an 32F cup (I have always been fairly top heavy) to spilling out of a HH in the past 3 years. That’s 5+ cup sizes. I have gained some weight and have tipped over into the overweight category by about 5lbs, but the bust growth is a major problem for me. I could cry. I can barely get bras that fit, never mind clothes that I feel comfortable in. My bust is 2 clothes sizes bigger than the rest of me and it’s got to the point where I am considering saving up for breast reduction surgery. I am mid forties and I am guessing that this is a hormone issue. I’m at a bit of a loss and feeling very down about it 😞

JoolieBiee71 · 15/08/2021 22:05

Yes mine have gone huge. I have gone from being very boyish (32B with padding just to make it look like there is something there). To page 3 like 32E-F in just a few months. I am still the same size trousers/ waist but am having to change the shape of everything I wear on top. My biggest worry is that I worry everyone thinks I’ve had a breast enlargement.

The best thing I did was go for a proper bra fitting (I thought I was going mad & to be told off for wearing too large a cup size that I had got in M&S a few weeks earlier then To be told at the bra shop that the size is obviously too small).

I absolutely adore the new size of my breasts - but would like to know from those who’ve been through this when it stops

JumpLeadsForTwo · 18/08/2021 22:28

I thought it was just me - only gone from a B to D but they are massive for me, also quite sore. I even for a millisecond thought about doing a pregnancy test to check even though that is v v unlikely

I’ve gone from a slightly deflated 32E to a very full G cup. Hate it. And I have a real spare tyre around my belly. It used to be the case that I looked pregnant after I’d eaten a large meal, now I just look pregnant all the time.

Just read this from a while back. You sound like me! I got to a 32HH too, bloody awful and so hard to get clothes that look good. I have it on my tum too. I joined a gym a couple of months ago and have managed to get back to a 32G with some hard work! I also have an under active thyroid so weight loss will be slow! I am aiming to get to a 32E!! Probably take around 5 years 😂

Can I just ask how long the “expansion” went on for. I’m considering HRT just for this. They seem to be getting bigger week by week, and from everything I’ve read it’s hormonal.

I've put on about a stone over a few months, breasts increased over that time, but now stopped growing. When I have previously gained weight, it was never in my breasts and they are really sore. Considering HRT as I'm getting other symptoms as well, but worried I'll put on even more weight
Bluntness100 · 26/08/2021 06:44

It’s not hormones op that make you gain weight. Your metabolism has likely slowed or you will be eating more than you realise, it just takes a little more. In addition. It’s highly unlikely you’ve put on half a stone on just your boobs, the size differential would be much bigger, so you’ll be gaining all over, it’s just more noticeable on your boobs to you.

But yeah, many of us gain weight on our boobs, loosing the weight and exercise and they do shrink back. It’s only half a stone so easy enough to do hopefully for you.

sadperson16 · 26/08/2021 06:51

I too have always had bigger boobs.Post menopause they are absolutely hideous.I caught sight of myself on camera and it is the whole Les Dawson look.Matronly, like a bloody shelf out front.
Bras uncomfortable, look like something youd see on a ship yard.
I loathe my appearance.
I think@Bluntness100,you are correct.
Who am I kidding. A 2 stone weight gain has to go somewhere.

Bluntness100 · 26/08/2021 08:49

Yeah I put on weight this year in lockdown and my boobs grew at an unflattering rate, I’ve lost it again and they’ve shrunk back.

At the ops current bra size her breasts would weigh less than a pound each. In total. Now. There is no way she’s out on 3.5 pounds on each. Sorry op. You’ve gained weight all over and probably less than half a pound on your breasts, Ie a quarter of a pound each. It maybe evenly distributed which is why you’re not seeing it. Or you could just be overly focused on your boobs,

JoolieBiee71 · 26/08/2021 23:12

Bluntness isn’t quite right. There is a hormonal element to it as well - with a scant amount of peer reviewed papers published. It’s not trendy research (and therefore a niche area), which leaves so many people questioning what’s going on. I definitely haven’t put on weight and have gone up cup sizes in the past few months.

Touty · 27/08/2021 00:07

Im in the same boat. Want to get them reduced, but I keep reading about women who have had reductions only for the breast's to grow back Confused
