14 day periods!

Hi, I am 43 and for my last cycle I bled for 14 days! Then off for 16 days and started again. Day 13 now and still bleeding, no sign of stopping.
I saw my GP and have had a cervical checkup and pelvic ultrasound which both looked OK, although still awaiting the results of the biopsy they took of a cervical polyp, but doc said it looked normal and would not cause the 14 day bleeds!
I was hoping to hear from anyone who has had an experience of really long periods in their 40s and what helped please.
Thanks in advance!

Just come on to ask about this! Currently on day 11 of bleeding, at what point do I check with gp? I normally bleed for 3-4 days, so this is not normal, but am def In peri menopause.... so do I just ignore it and carry on?

@Candacej
@BaklavaBalaclava

Now I'm in the extra long periods club!
Can you report back plans?
I'm so fed up now.

Hi both, I think it is definitely worth talking to your GP about this, so that they can request an ultrasound to check things out and make sure it's nothing sinister. Both of my last two periods were 14 days on the dot!
I have an nhs ultrasound on Sat this week to explore further.
Keep me updated on how you both get on. Ps. Only saw these messages now otherwise would have replied earlier, sorry to the first poster.

Thanks guys! Mine stopped after 14 days, I'm hoping it was just a post vaccine thing... my gp is pretty rubbish at women's stuff, and so you have to wait 6 weeks to get an appointment about periods. If I get another super long one I'll contact them.

Good luck with your investigations! Let us know how they go!
