No bleed after progesterone

I'm coming to the end of my first month on HRT - oestrogen gel every day and then Utrogestan from days 15-26. However, I was expecting a period-like bleed after stopping the progesterone but it's been 5 days and still nothing. Is this common? I thought the Oestrogel causes the uterine lining to thicken and the Utrogestan makes it shed. Am not keen on it just building up given that it can increase the risk of uterine cancer, or so I've heard.

In 20% of women there is no bleed.
The reason is that for you, after just one month, the lining is probably still too thin to be shed. Everyone absorbs the gel differently. How much are you using?

Hi @JinglingHellsBells, grateful for the response as always. I'm using 2 pumps per day. So far so good and the hot flushes have stopped. The Utrogestan was amazing stuff - I had 12 days of the best sleep I've had in months. Sadly, since stopping it my sleep is not as good so roll on 15 June!

I'd wait and see what happens over the next 2-3 months. Glad it's all helping!

Hi @KillingMeDeftly I'm on the same regimen as you. Recently I've had three months of no/scant bleed coinciding with dropping to one pump of gel, then this month a normal period because I'd upped my gel from one pump to two. So it might be an issue of how well the gel is absorbing but give it a few months to see how it goes. I agree the utrogestan is fab for sleep!
