Bruxism?!

About 4 months ago I started grinding and clenching my teeth at night. Dentist is saying its likely stress, but absolutely nothing happened at that point to make me stressed, if anything I'd say I've been less stressed in 2021!

I'm now wondering if its perhaps connected to peri...I've had some really weird health issues in the last couple of years that have come out of nowhere and could be hormone related (vertigo, new allergies), so wondering if perhaps this could be too. Anyone had bruxism as a symptom?

Yes, I think so for me.

Do you know what? Yes, I have, in the last two years (50 and post menopausal). Have never connected the two though. Amazing if it is connected.

My BFF has just had to have all her teeth treated for this and she is also post menopause. Just suddenly also.

Is it just getting older though?

I certainly did. I had horrific, out of the blue anxiety with my peri, which I had never had before and was 100% caused by hormones. I would also grind my teeth at night. Thankfully, HRT took it all away.

It can definitely be connected. My dentist told me that after I developed it so severely I ground a hole in a crown! It was one of the many symptoms I presented to my GP before she prescribed HRT last week. I'm hoping it eases it.
