Periods stopped in 2018 and I get a ruddy period from hell last week that lasted 8 days

Full on PMT the works.

Appointment made for the Docs and a referral was done when I saw her.

Well the appointment has already come through and I’m fretting about like a daft un. It’s in 10 days.

Vaginal ultrasound and a normal scan to check everything is ok

So has anyone been through this or similar

I did do Dr Google and scared myself shitless so won’t be doing that again.

My mum told me something similar just so that I could expect it. She had been period free for about 2 years so thought she was officially done, then at 54(!!!) got a period. She then was period free again. But wasn't officially through menopause again for another two years. Try not to worry overly.

Have you recently had a covid vaccine? There’s a lot of suggestion that it messes up your menstrual cycle.

Dullardmullard · 16/05/2021 23:28

The covid and periods is for the one not through menopause and I was 12 weeks when I got my period.

I’m 55 and I don’t want another one but I’ll bet I will, not fun then.

I'm the same, OP.

I'm 52. Over Two full years without a period.

Had an 8 day full on one this March.

Scan showed no problems. Got another period now.

So flipping annoying.

ItWorriesMeThisKindofThing · 17/05/2021 19:46

this happened to my mum. It was a one off, all fine.

weebarra · 17/05/2021 19:49

Happened to me, a couple of years after ovary removal due to BRCA2. Had scan and biopsy and was fine.

Did the GP say you’re back to square one with periods.

I hated mine as they were always heavy as they’d spaced themselves out at the end to every 3 months then nowt.

So you got the all clear then or do you have to go back for check ups

All clear!

Consultant said i might start having periods again but couldn't say.

They did say not to worry if I did, as all tests had shown negative so nothing untoward going on.
