Have the coil so don't know if I'm perimenopausal

Really tired all the time despite 7 hours of sleep, gained 15 kilos in a year (!!!!!), average 16,000 steps a day. Really low vitamin D and my Gp says I need sunshine and a holiday! Aargh

Eating less calories than prior to the weight gain so I'm very confused. Also forgetful etc - aged 48.

Just want to get this sorted - happy to see a menopause specialist if necessary! Thx x

I'm not an expert, but perimenopause is definitely feasible. I am a year older and can identify with everything bar the step count! No real advice but Flowers and a Brew for you from me.

@Lotty32 It's NHS advice that everyone (adult) takes Vit D from October to April, regardless of age or gender. It has an important role in immunity and bone health. Look for a high dose supplement of 25mcgs. Most are just 10mcgs.

If you have the Mirena, HRT is easy- you just need to add estrogen as a pill, patch or gel, used daily.

See your GP?

Many thx - I have seen the doctor and she has prescribed 85mg dose of vitamin d - I'm just disappointed that she just said I needed more sunshine! I take vitamin d every day anyway!

Love Mumsnet - clarified my thinking and am going to go and see a menopause specialist x
