Did anyone else feel really depressed on Estrogel?

Hi, I started Estrogel about 10 days ago and I just feel so depressed, I can cry about anything! Has anyone else had this and if so what did you do? Not sure whether to give it a few more weeks and see or try patches or something instead. It hasn't made any difference to my symptoms either, in fact they're a bit worse.

Yes I felt depressed for a couple of weeks starting on that and utrogestan.I wondered if it was worth it.It passed though.

Thank you, that's a relief to hear!

I too didn't like it and asked to go back to my old patches.

Was that better? I asked about that but was told to try 1 pump each day for a week then gradually increase back up to 2. It does seem to have helped but I'm still on 1 pump...

@Pacer111 It won't be the gel. Estrogen is the 'happy' hormone.

The odds are if you need HRT for other symptoms, your low mood is part of peri menopause and would have been there without the gel.
You have only used 1 pump for 10 days. That's a very low dose and a very short period of time. Medical advice is to use any HRT (at the full dose, not 50%) for 3 months, then decide if it's helping or not.

Just keep going and give it longer on the full dose.

I'm pretty sure it was the gel as I've never had problems with low mood, depression etc until a few days after starting the gel. I used 2 pumps for about 12 days before reducing to 1 pump and I feel better already. I am going to gradually increase back to the 2 pumps though and am hopeful this time round I'll be ok with it
