Hi ladies

I have premature ovarian insufficiency, so am basically peri menopausal and have been since my 20s (now early 30s).

The only symptom I have ever had is wonky/absent periods (and infertility!)

My last period was September last year.

For the last two weeks or so I have had lots of discharge, with no sign of infection. It is a mix of egg white and creamy. No itching, discomfort, burning, etc. But bloody noticeable for me - I keep thinking I’ve come on my period, but nope!

Should I be worried about this? I don’t know what to think! I’ve had some off twinges and mild cramps, but I’m not sure I would have noticed them if I wasn’t on ‘high alert’ as it were.

I have never taken HRT.

Any advice greatly appreciated!

Oooh- you say you have POI so assume you are under the care of a specialist for long-term treatment?

Have you seen anyone connected with the POI clinic at the Chelsea and Westminster hospital? That's the best place in the UK. They also run a support group the Daisy Network, online, with info and talks from drs.

You ought to be using HRT up to the age of 50. Has no one suggested this? That's the medical advice.

If you read the info on the Daisy Network site, it explains that in women with POI, fertility can sometimes resume.

I think it would help you to see a specialist and talk all of this through.

When I had similar symptoms I was found to have two large ovarian cysts. I subsequently lost an ovary, so it's worth asking for a referral for a scan.

Cysts are more common if you have hormonal issues unfortunately.

@Cailleach thank you for your response - I will ask them today!

OK, so after some positive pregnancy tests followed by negative ones (I hate my body), my GP has diagnosied bacterial vaginiosis and prescribed antibiotics

I’m a bit confused as I told him I had lots of egg white discharge, no smell, no burn or itch, etc and yet he’s gone with BV.

Surprise surprise - antibiotics aren’t making a blind bit of difference, so I’ll have to get another phone appointment next week. I’m tempted to just ignore it and hope it goes away
