Menopause and history of depression

Hello. Has anyone got experience of a history of depression and menopause? How do you know if you need anti depressants or menopause treatments? Can you do both? Sending myself round in circles trying to decide if I am depressed again or the way I am feeling is part of being peri menopausal.

If you have some symptoms of peri like periods going awol or insomnia, flushes, mood swings, etc etc etc, the answer would be to try HRT and see if it helps.
Are you using drugs for depression now?

Not on any anti-d's at the moment. Last taken Dec 2020. Was feeling generally good but having strange weeks of downs and tearfulness and rage and physical menopausal symptoms so decided to see what would happen. I've been fine until this week when I have basically been very down.

I have put myself on the waiting list for Newson clinic as GP's keep prescribing anti-D's for menopause for me.

I'd wait for your appt with LN and see what happens. She's very very adamant that GPs prescribing ADs is wrong (as is NICE) and basically they don't work if it's menopause.

1000s of women spend their 40s, 50s and beyond on ADs mis-prescribed by GPs.
