I’m a year into menopause , and my hips are so stiff and achy especially after I’ve been sitting down for a while
Does anyone else suffer like this ? Is there anything that helps ?

Yes I do and like you I’m about a year into menopause. I also get the stiffness and aching in my feet when I get up in the morning, it’s horrible!

I’m speaking to my Dr next week about HRT.

Hi Lizziesidal. I used to get terrible pain in the soles of my feet which turned out to be plantar fasciitis which went with time .
I sympathise with the painful hips , I enjoy walking but boy do I suffer afterwards , do your hips bother you during the night ? I think half of my sleep trouble is because of the pain

I’ve got an appt with a menopause Dr on the 28th of this month

My hips are like an old ladies. It's affecting every moment of my life at the moment. Do you know why menopause affects them?

FunnysInLaJardin · 09/04/2021 14:15

One of my peri symptoms was aching hips and joints especially at night. The paid has completely gone since I started HRT a couple of months ago.

Coincidentally I also had plantar fasciitis in both feet for most of last year which has now also gone. I think that was due to poorly fitting shoes though.

Yes my hips ache, especially when doing a 12 1/2 hour shift. I do a lot of walking in my job, so by the end of the shift I can hardly walk.

I work nights so doesn't help.

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 09/04/2021 14:23

I get it when I don’t do my once-a-week yoga/Pilates (eg during lockdowns)

It’s to do with very tight hip flexors

Doing regular hip flexor stretches is great

Walking just moves your legs forward and backward, but you also need to move your legs outwards (as in the splits Wink, or realistically yoga/stretches etc)

Tight hip flexors are quite annoying!

I had some hip pain around menopause, not sure quite what you're describing. I've been doing regular Pilates since then, also take fish oil and they seem ok now. I walk a lot, no running - I think that would be asking for trouble.

Yup. Me too worse in the evening when I've been watching TV. Having said that, it can also be random!
