Perimenopause?

I've noticed my periods getting closer and closer together, but this one has started only 11 days after my last one finished. Is this the start of it? They are so heavy too that I'm worried I'm going to become even more anaemic!

If you are mid 40s up then most probably is - but you can get your GP to do a blood test

A blood test won't necessarily be helpful for checking for perimenopause as it only gives your hormone levels for the day you have the test.

But yes, if you are mid-40s then probably. A change in the frequency and heaviness of periods is a classic sign, it certainly was for me. It was horrible.

I know it's not suitable for every woman but a Mirena coil sorted me out completely. I had it put in at 46 and never had a period again.
