Brown periods? Normal?

Gosh glad to find this board. I need to start reading. I'm about ten days into a brown period/discharge thing, I've been getting v v light brown period on and off for past few months, this one is a little heavier but still brown , and smells like old period (sorry!). I was a bit concerned but it sounds like this is normal?

I had monstrous flooding periods age 40-46, now 47 and last year has been either no periods or brown discharge, but this is a bit more and mild cramping.

Is this just part of peri?

I also have ongoing discomfort where my left ovary is. This seems to be muscular but I've had it a year - have had scans etc but nothing found. Probably not related but I mention in case it happens to be a menopause thing.

Yes, at least in my experience. Before my periods stopped completely, they were very different to all the periods I had had previously. The periods, if I can call them that, were just a brown thick mucous.

yes, totally normal xx

Great thank you ! I had hot flushes and no periods for about 6 months. The flushes stopped and I was quite hopeful, now I have this never ending brown period . Still, it beats the flooding and intense pain any day !!

Also looks like the stomach injury could be related to menopausal weakening pelvic floor ? My physio has given me a ton of exercises but I've been getting frustrated with slow progress, but now I think I understand the science I'm plugging on with them

I agree, normal.

Brown periods during peri - YES.

My question is: What about brown discharge between irregular periods?

It has a bad smell as well. Often accompanied by LOTS and LOTS of watery clear fluid, as though my uterus has started leaking stale water.

Do I need to worry? Will it go away after my periods stop completely?

I'm posting again as I wondered if anyone could tell me if my latest development is also normal?

The brown period turned into a full on flooding period, maybe a day or two after posting so around 23 March, about a week ago. It's been so heavy and I've had some massive clots.

I think it's heavy in part as I had my vaccine last week so didn't want to take transexamic acid . But it's still going , I've been through two boxes of super plus Tampax in that time.

I've ordered some sparone in my shop as there's no way I'm not anaemic.

Just a bit worried as it's still coming, clots and all?

Before this I'd not had a period since August , so is this just long because of everything that has built up?

Weirdly I only had pain on the day I had the side effects from the vaccine. No other time which is remarkable considering how heavy it is and how much pain I used to be in. It's just very limiting. I drove to and from my vaccine and had leaked during that time even with new super plus tampon and a padConfused
