Hi, has anyone been prescribed this along with oestrogen and progesterone.

Apparently the NHS won't but it's widely agreed that it's also necessary?

Thanks

if you pay to see a gynae as a private patient you can pay for a private prescription of testosterone. So, no chance for us without the funds to pay.

There are no testosterone products for female use licensed in the UK

Does anyone do this? How much does it cost and does it make a difference?

If I add up the consultation fees, blood tests and the potion itself I reckon it works out at something approaching £1200 per year

My gp has just prescribed me it, it is available on the NHS.

My gp said that she would also prescribe it if it was felt I needed it. While it's not licensed in this way, 'there are ways round it', she told me.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 02/02/2022 20:56

My private menopause clinic prescribed it, my GP won't. The clinic asks for an annual blood test to check my testosterone is in the normal range for women, and then I can have an annual prescription.

LiveFromNewYork · 02/02/2022 21:51

My GP has prescribed it. It needs to be available within the Clinical Commissioning Group guidelines for your area (this is where the lottery starts, not so much about who has money) AND your individual practice needs to be happy with the idea.

LiveFromNewYork · 02/02/2022 21:52

My GP said it's actually quite hard for men to get it too, which surprised me.

I have just been prescribed it by my gp
