Period Pain during Peri

user1471464416 · 26/02/2021 15:18

Hi, first time poster! I am 53, periods erratic but still happening and often quite heavy which is normal for me. The last 5 or 6 periods have also been really painful, cramps and general abdominal pain which is something I have not experienced since being a teenager! It only lasts around 12 hours but is not pleasant. Has anyone else experienced this change during peri? Many thanks.

Yes. My periods used to be a breeze. Now they're anything but.

Its horrible isn't it. My only consolation is that at 53 I can't have that many more to go!!

I was just hunting to see if I’m going mad, symptoms are just like yours and I’m having pain for about 5 days before it even starts

I’m almost 52 and so done with this crap, in the end last month I resorted to using Buscopan as well as pain killers and it really did help

Hopefully we’re nearing the end, maybe others who’ve been like this can offer us some hope

Buscopan is a good idea. My period finished last week and I'm already spotting again.....aaaahhhh. Its the pain that gets to me, like someone twisting a knife in my tummy!

Yes! I've been suffering with heavier and more painful periods for ages now but the cramps start mid month now and last right through to the period starting and obvs during that so most of every month is taken up with feeling rubbish.
You're not alone!

Its horrible isn't it. Does anyone have any idea why periods could get more painful during peri menopause. I guess hormonal changes which seems to the be the answer for everything!
