Headaches

I am 51, am still getting periods but they are changing in the last year from 24/25 days to sometimes 35-45 day cycles. So a bit erratic. Other than that no hot flushes etc.
However for a good few years now I get 2/3 day headaches on right side of my head, constant tightness. It is never throbbing/pulsating, no auras etc. Doctor did blood tests a few years ago and found nothing to worry about re: inflammation etc. Concluded it was migraine.
I think it is related to hormones as most often around my periods. Mostly just before or after first couple of days. I take Excedrin which works for a while, but I also feel a bit nauseous all the time. I can function, but don't feel great. Then after 2/3 days, it goes.
Anyone else had this type of headache. Sinuses are clear, but pain can be around eyebrow, side of face, all the way back to above and behind my ear on the right hand side. Same each time.

It's like a bit of a migraine (one-sided), a bit of a cluster (3 days) and a bit of a tension headache (constant/tight) rolled up into one.
Anyone else have this? And did you find anything that helps?

Mine is similar. Starts as a dull pain behind my eyes, then gathers behind my right eye and stabbing pain in my temple. It's dreadful. Like you it happens in the first couple of days of my period. Sends me to bed more often than not.

Saw a clip today of Dr Rebecca Lewis talking about migraines in peri. She said it's caused by a dip in oestrogen at certain times of the month.

I'm seeing a doc next week to explore hrt. All the other symptoms are bad enough but I can't live with the headaches much longer. I find Solpodeine Extra are the only thing that take the edge off it.

Hope you're ok and you get it sorted.x

Thanks for your reply, good luck with the hrt. I have that possibility in reserve but want to want until I have other symptoms too.

I have the same first start as a dull headaches then pain in the in and around the right side of my eye it's makes me dizzy I also feel a bit faint and feel sick with it my ear can lightly ache to as it goes down the side it's also feels like someone is pressing the side of my head I've had this going on for a while now.
It always happens just before a period I'm same as you with my cycle they were every 28days then it got slightly longer I turned 50 this year .
Since 1st Jan I've been on HRT the gel and tablets it's stopped the hot sweats but I think it's making my migraines worst as Ive come to end of packet of tablets I started getting the migraine which I still have now my period is due anyway when this come migraine clears.
Then cycle starts again I just don't know if to stop the HRT I'm beginning to think I'm better off without it but I'm only 2mths in I'm thinking of perhaps giving another few months but I cannot keep going through this as I'm just lying in bed not being able to do anything as I cannot concentrate or do anything it make my migraine worst !

@yesterdaygirl thanks for your reply. Yes, the fluctuating hormones seem to be the thing that's causing them. I'm holding off on HRT as I'm not really suffering any other difficult symptoms - yet... I find it very hard to concentrate when I have it too - the pressure is overwhelming. Hope you get sorted!
