HRT dose after BSO/Hysterectomy

Hi everyone. I had a hysterectomy last Tuesday, including both my ovaries after years of endometriosis/adenomyosis and PMDD. I am already experiencing severe hot flushes but I am not due for a chat about my HRT dose until the middle of next week.

I have oestrogen gel (prior to surgery I tried Zoladex with add back HRT) but I don’t know how many pumps to use? I was on 3 before but that was when I still had ovaries!

Will I also need progesterone? Testosterone? How long does it usually take to get a dose that works?

Thanks so much xx

I had my first hot flush just a few hours after my op! I was told by the gynae that did my op that it was not recommended to start HRT until 4 weeks post op but I can’t find any info as to why, and I can’t now remember the reason she gave. I had mine Dec 2019 so didn’t start HRT (Evorel 50 patches) until jan last year. Mine have worked brilliantly, apart from when they were difficult to get hold of at one point, and I was given a different brand. Haven’t needed a tweak in dose yet.

Testosterone isn’t licensed for women in the U.K. (are you U.K.?) although I have read on here that it can be paid for on a private prescription if you have the funds.

My hysterectomy has been life changing, so amazing to be pain free & able to leave the house without worrying every month. I hope you soon have your HRT sorted.
