Tender breasts a first sign of peri?

Hello. I’ve been experiencing tender breasts, usually a week before AF and only for a few days but this month it’s been since cd10 and still here on cd25. I’m expecting AF around 2nd March. I was wondering if this could be down to hormone fluctuation and a sign of peri-menopause? I’m 43 and don’t really have any other symptoms I don’t think- cycles are around 30 days, a little irregular but always have been. I had one random long cycle before Xmas. I’m really interested to hear what other women experienced as the first symptoms, in particular if breast tenderness was one and if it stuck around for most of your cycle! Thank you.

Yes this was my first symptom of peri menopause. Very tender breasts for c 2 weeks before period. Now I've got other symptoms as well.

Ah that’s interesting, thanks louisecake. I have it again this month, bit annoying but not unmanageable atm... guess I’ll just be on the look out for other symptoms arriving at some point!

Interesting. I've just started getting this before my period as well as a really painful 24 hours when ovulating. Wondered if it was hormonal changes related to peri.
I'm 42.

Yes I had that - had continuous tender breasts for about 2 months every day, it was awful. GP recommend evening primrose oil. Then it just stopped one day.

A few months later I missed a period for the first time ever (apart from when pregnant) - I went into panic mode and convinced myself I must be suffering from some strange unknown medical condition as was in complete denial it could be menopause whenever it was suggested to me. That was about 3/4 years ago when I was 43. So looking back, yes it was definitely a sign my hormones were starting to play up.

I had this for about 4 years in late thirties, then it became permanent for about 2 years, every day. Did not even think about peri at the time. Ended up through menopause at 43.

Yep mine have been like this since I was about 35. I'm now 41. My cycles are getting shorter and I'm becoming prone to migraines and vertigo. I seem to be having a long peri. I have had thyroid problems since my late twenties so I think that compounds it. I tend to wear sports bras in the second half of my cycle and wear a non wired bralet in bed, seems to help the tenderness.
