Anxiety - types with peri

So I’ve had severe health anxiety out of now where for past 3 years, I’m 42... prior to this I was a happy, outgoing person and this has completely wiped me out. A friend suggested peri and after a consultation I’ve been advised HRT. My question is how does the anxiety from peri present itself to you lovely ladies? My therapist says it’s childhood issues that were bound to overflow someday but is it co-incidental? I’m totally confused and exhausted about it’s cause, any help gratefully appreciated Confused

Hi, op. I'm sorry for what you're going through, and I know exactly how you're feeling. When I was 40, seven years ago, my periods changed and then I was suddenly hit by horrific anxiety which I had never, ever had before. All due to peri. For 7 months I was in a living hell with doctors trying to shove pills down my throat, but fortunately I did a lot of research and realised my anxiety was due to peri, and ad's were absolutely not the answer. I found a great gynea, was put on HRT, and my anxiety and other symptoms were gone almost immediately. I feel it saved my life, honestly.

As for the "childhood issues", while that may be true for some, it definitely was not for me in any way. My anxiety was 100% hormonally related. I hope you give HRT a try.

Thank you @Aquamarine1029... can I ask about your anxiety? How did it affect you, your health? Going out? TIA

My anxiety started like a lightning bolt, a full on panic attack. It was really terrifying because I had never experienced anything like that before, not even a hint of anxiety. My husband was so completely freaked out he took me to hospital because he thought I might have been having a heart attack.

After that, it turned into a near constant state of anxiety. I was afraid to go out, I was afraid to stay home. I was terrified that I was going mad and my life was over. I was a complete mess and couldn't understand why as I was very happy with every aspect of my life.

Anxiety can manifest itself in all sorts of ways, and health anxiety is very, very common.

When I finally got properly treated, the anxiety literally disappeared. It was incredible to get the old me back.
