Gel Mattress Topper Recommendation please

I'm on HRT and it has greatly improved the hot flushes but I'm still generally hot and waking up hot in the night frequently!

We've recently bought a new sprung mattress as the old one had a foam top and made me too hot but I'm still feeling heat between me and it. I'm thinking about getting a gel mattress topper.

Has anyone had any success with one? Would love to hear about it if so...and get some sleep!

TIA.

I bought a gel topped mattress and unfortunately I didn't find it worked for me.

Have you tried all the obvious things, like pure cotton sheets and a window cracked open, or a fan on a low setting?

Thanks @CoastAlong Yes to cotton bedding. Haven't tried window open but I don't have the heating on at night so it is pretty cool beyond the duvet. I find the heat that gets trapped between me & the mattress the worst.

Useful to know the gel toppers aren't much good.

Bumping this as I am also desperate to find a cooling topper. I'm the same in that it's the bed under me that feels really hot. Hoping for some recommendations.

We've got a gel topped mattress (igel 3000) and were promised it would be cooling as we had such a bad time with memory foam. It is really warm! I swear it reflects the heat back. It's too comfy to return but definitely not cooling im afraid.

My mum says the best night's sleep she gets is on the cheapo IKEA pocket spring mattress in our spare room on a wooden bed with slats, not a divan base - maybe because the open springs allow air to circulate and there is nothing fancy at all, no topper or memory foam or anything. Pure linen or cotton sheets and a duck feather down duvet - a thin 5 tog one, she says natural materials are always cooler for her. She sometimes sleeps under just a sheet and cotton quilt.
