No period or any description for at least 18 months. Just turned 55. Got blood. Red not briwn. Not much. Should I worry?
On HRT patches

You need to contact your GP urgently, OP. Post menopausal bleeding has various possible causes, but it is important to get checked to exclude endometrial cancer.

scentedgeranium · 14/02/2021 18:58

Right. Thank you. I'll call them tomorrow. It's just a smidge. But yep. Ok

Referred to post menopausal bleeding clinic. Scan within 2 weeks

That’s excellent, OP. Most bleeding is not cancer, but it’s vital to check so it isn’t missed. Either way, it will give you peace of mind - you will either get the all clear or you will get it treated early before it can spread.
Well done for acting so promptly.

I've been through this over the last seven months. Mine is still being checked out (probably benign polyps) and it seems they are a bit less worried about it. I've had three hysteroscopies now. My bleeding is probably due to my HRT and this has now been tweaked so that I have a Mirena coil instead of Utrogestan. A bit too early to know that it's working.

You've done the right thing. I've found the system, even through various lockdowns, very prompt and responsive. And the staff have been lovely.

Best of luck.

Thank you
I'm a natural worrier!

Scented it's more likely to be something with the HRT. Lots of women get odd spotting or bleeding. But you're doing the right thing to have it checked.

Mollybest1 · 17/02/2021 00:11

Thank you for sharing.
I have spent the last 7 months thinking I was the only one. I’m not on HRT but have been spotting for 7 months. My last period was over a year ago. I call the doctor today and am going for a scan. I just thought I had to put up with it, that it was part of the way things went.

scentedgeranium · 17/02/2021 08:26

Somewhat amazingly I spotted Sunday, rang GP Monday, had GP apt and quick poke around vagina and cervix yesterday (looking beautiful by the way) and am having a scan done today to check uterus. Am amazed at the speed. Crossing my fingers that it's what the GP suspects which is some breakthrough bleeding from the continuous HRT patches.

scentedgeranium · 17/02/2021 17:53

Went for scan and I have slight thickening of uterus lining. Am awaiting a call back from gynaecologist. Sooner the better please because I'm not good with uncertainty!

If you are on HRT, even the continuous combined type, they usually allow a slightly thicker lining than for women post-meno who are not on HRT. It's whether the thickening looks irregular that's most important. Not just the thickness.

scentedgeranium · 17/02/2021 18:16

Thank you. I didn't ask the whether it was uneven or regular. I'll just be patient and await the next stage

Waiting with you OP

scentedgeranium · 19/02/2021 12:27

Update they've called me in for a hysteriscomy and biopsy next week. I had hoped they wouldn't because the thickening was only slight and could perhaps be accounted by the HRT I'm on. But maybe they saw something too. I don't know. At least they've been quick.

Mollybest1 · 19/02/2021 14:21

Got an appointment for a scan in 3 weeks but it is not at my local hospital, it’s over a hours drive away so had to cancel as I don’t drive. They said I would have to wait until end of March for an appointment closer. 😦

scentedgeranium · 19/02/2021 17:13

@Mollybest1 I am in Cornwall which is generally crap at diagnosic waiting times so I'm astonished I've been dealt with so quickly. Yiu sound like you've got a v poor deal indeed where you are.

Hi scentedgeranium, I’m in oxford. We always have a long wait for anything. Hope everything goes ok for you.

scentedgeranium · 23/02/2021 18:20

Quick update. The procedure is done. My uterus looked beautiful, but 4 tissue biopsies were taken as a matter of course.
It's pretty uncomfortable (painful!) but the gynae and nurses were lovely and made the experience far less bad than it might otherwise have been. Honestly they were brilliant.
2-3 week wait now while presumably they grow the tissue samples

Glad it's been quick and everything looks good OP.

Thanks for update. X fingers for good news next.
