Which HRT???

I am drowning in information and just need some advice please.

I am 51, still having periods, they are getting quite irregular (up to 70 day cycles) although they are still v heavy. Hot flushes were waking me up at night, and the rage was getting me down so asked for HRT. The GP put me on Kliovance tablets which have knocked the hot flushes right off, thank fuck, but when I was doing some reading I found that it seems this is wrong because:

My BMI is over 30 so I should be on transdermal HRT
I am still having periods so should be on cyclical rather than continuous HRT

Is this right? Because I phoned on Friday and explained this to my GP, but when I have gone to pick up my new prescription she's given me patches BUT they are Evorel Conti so another continuous HRT!!! I told her I have been bleeding for 4 weeks so she knows my periods haven't stopped....

So does it really matter? Do I need to go back and ask for something else? I'm on a break from stopping the old one so don't need to start the new one until Friday anyway. I know stuff can get lost / misheard over the phone but am a bit annoyed about this and don't know whether i should just get over it & use the new one

Thank you Smile

@MotherBuckets did you get any answers?
I'm in a similar situation although I've just found out I've been on the wrong HRT for the last year! They've apologised but now I don't trust them to get it right

Hi @MissSmiley, the GP actually noticed she had given me the wrong stuff and swapped me over. So I'm on patches now, 2 weeks of estrogen only and 2 weeks of estrogen plus progesterone. She said normally that would carry on until a year after my periods stopped and then go onto continuous e&p.

@MotherBuckets they put me on oestrogen only which is only allowed of you have no uterus, I've been on it a year, she's apologised profusely but I'm pissed off I'm now at increased risk of uterine cancer because she hadn't noticed I hadn't had a hysterectomy!!
