I’m 51 and have had regular periods apart from twice last year when I had a break of 6-7 weeks in between.
Jan ‘21 started again and have had a really heavy period for 15 days. Prescribed tranexamic acid which didn’t help and now norehisterone which is helping. Blood tests tomorrow. Anyone had similar? and what happened? Quite worried.

I had the same. TBH I did nothing about it apart from take some iron tablets. Didn't occur to be to go to the GP. It's quite common afaik, and nothing to be worried about, but very draining and frustrating.

Definitely recommend you take Floradix tablets or liquid if it makes you feel fatigued.

The blood tests will show what your hormones are doing and whether or not you are peri-menopausal. It certainly sounds as though you are but you need confirmation of that after which you and your GP can decide which course of action to take, if any.

Thankyou. It definitely is draining after 2 weeks of it, felt quite unwell. I’ll see the Dr for the results and take it from there. I shouldn’t look at the internet as it suggests all sorts of problems.

It also depends when in your cycle you take the blood test. I'm 50 and have exactly the same symptoms and my blood test showed that I wasn't perimenopausal. My GP said that if I'd have had them done the following week, it would probably have given different results.
One thing to note though, it is completely and utterly normal. I've had 10 to 15 day periods with only 10 days in between and then a stretch of 6 weeks. It's just the start of things changing and yes, get some iron tablets.
