Alcohol and Menopause

I’ve never been a big drinker but have always enjoyed wine - at most, half a bottle with a meal once or twice a week. But since meno, I can’t drink more than one or one and a half gasses at a time without having a dreadful night of wakefulness and an odd buzzing stomach. I’ve accepted this - it’s not the end of the world - but was wondering if this is connected with menopause or just a metabolic thing to do with ageing. Anyone else?

Im sure Caitlin Moran mentioned something similar in her new book.

I enjoy the occasional bottle of wine , I’ve been dieting since the new year I’m not overly over weight but could do with losing a stone to get my blood pressure & cholesterol down , I used to suffer terribly at night with pains in my hips but since I’ve stopped the booze I haven’t had any pain maybe it a coincidence but I feel alcohol isn’t a good think during menopause

Deffo hormones ! Since I’ve been on HRT I can now enjoy a couple of glasses again x

I find anything more than two small glasses and awake half the night . When I first started on HRT a couple of years ago I would actually throw up after a couple of glasses . Hangovers are super- bad in peri I think. Just not worth it. Now I realise why women I know in their 60s drink v little any more.

I can't drink wine at all now - causes terrible hot flushes all night, indigestion and burning feet. Stick to GnT only now and very little of that
