Blood tests show peri menopause?

Hi my gp is reluctant to say either way but if I have unusually low estradiol levels now and even 5 years ago had low amh and high fsh would that indicate I am likely in peri menopause? Am 39.. thanks!

Have you had blood tests at the right time?
That's day 2-5 of your cycle, over 2 months.

They test your FSH levels, not estrogen (though they might do that too.)

Are you missing periods? Why do you think you are in peri meno?

I think if I were you I'd push for a referral to a gynae who specialises in early menopause (before 40) if you think that's what you have, if your GP isn't doing the right things.

Thanks for replying. Yes tests done on day 3 a few times and 21 also.. the estradiol one was very low apparently for my age which would suggest it.. reason I am asking is I have symptoms hot flashes, anxiety, insomnia, flooding periods, no libido etc. I am going for hysterectomy anyway so Gp not interested in pursuing it but think I will feel better about it all if I am already in peri!

You need to talk to the consultant.
You ought to be on HRT and definitely when you have had a hysterectomy as ovaries (if you keep them) tend to pack up 2 years after that op.

You need estrogen for your bones.
