Can anyone tell me about if they get this? What's it like for you? I've had fast heart beats before but tonight it went up to 102. Blooming scared me!

MummaPI · 05/01/2021 18:58

Hi!
Do you? Mine come and go, you'd think I'd get used to it by now.

I get this too . 120 tonight but am on a period ... again after a 2 week gap! Horrible it feels like it's beating out of my chest . I did have it checked by a specialist who sows I was having extra beats but not to worry as all seemed ok and hopefully it'll pass!!

bossyboo · 05/01/2021 23:42

*said not sows?!

giantangryrooster · 05/01/2021 23:45

I get it when going to sleep combined with or just before a hot flush.

MummaPI · 06/01/2021 00:06

@bossyboo I am the same, period after a 2 week gap too!

I’m not used to it tbh, it’s a bloody nuisance 😬

weaselwords · 06/01/2021 22:42

I had it during peri menopause. It took a good 3 months to settle. I think this was about 6 years ago. I never really had an answer to what caused it but hearing you all talking about it I am pretty sure it was to do with my hormones.

MummaPI · 06/01/2021 22:46

Can I ask you all, has the perimenopause affected your blood pressure? Mine has risen.

weaselwords · 06/01/2021 23:17

No, mine seems ok.

KaleKitchen · 06/01/2021 23:27

It affected mine. Try magnesium supplements before bed. 400mg nightly was a lifesaver for me - I sleep better, it naturally lowers blood pressure and helps with anxiety.

MummaPI · 06/01/2021 23:44

I have some magnesium but take it in the morning when I remember! I'll take it at night instead, thanks.

@KaleKitchen can I ask how badly it affected it? I've got a GPs telephone appointment in 2 weeks as it's in the region of medication I think, 145/90 ish

@MummaPI I don't know exactly - I used to have really bad anxiety attacks and episodes of heart racing, the magnesium really helped reduce that. It also helped me fall asleep and stay asleep. In the end I went on HRT (1mg estradiol gel daily and 100 mg micronised progesterone 25 days on, 3 days off) - these forms are about as natural and close to what our bodies produce as possible. My blood pressure normalised completely and I feel incredible mentally and emotionally now.
