The pill, perimenopause, missed period - help!

Hello. I know I should ask my dr this but I can't get hold of her. I started the pill about 5 months ago, mainly for perimenopause symptoms. My doctor wanted me to try this instead of HRT - plus although pregnancy is unlikely at 48, I liked being sure. Except now I am not sure. I didn't get a period at all this month - before starting the pill this had happened a few times naturally but I thought on the pill I would definitely get a period? Is it normal to continue to skip periods while on the pill if you are already heading towards the menopause? Thanks.

I think it can be. Depending on which pill you're on etc. It's probably worth double checking if you think there's a chance you could be pregnant though.

Well here I am again, another month, another missed period! This time I have done a pregnancy test and it is negative but still don't really understand what is going on! Anybody else?

Why are you on the pill at 48, considering your symptoms, and not HRT?

Well it was suggested to me and I thought, why not? At least for a few years until I can really, really be sure I won't get pregnant- yes, I know, I'm paranoid!!
