How do you know if on mini pill?

I am on the mini pill and have been for a few years, which has stopped periods altogether. I am also at the age where every other woman in my family has gone through the menopause.

Is there any way I would know without coming off the pill to see if periods restart? Previously they were horrendously heavy and lasted two weeks out of every three so have been putting off trying that.

I asked this at my last review (though I'm a few years off when I'd anticipate the menopause just yet). The nurse mentioned a blood test, but I can't remember any more about it (sorry). It would be worth asking whoever does your next pill review - there was definitely an option beyond 'stop taking it and see if you have periods'.

Good question; I am in the same position. Was thinking of just coming off it to see but don’t want to risk the pain and bleeding again.
