Alternatives to Femoston

I'm mid-40s and have been on Femoston for the last 6 months but I am struggling with feeling down, teary, low self-esteem, feelings of inadequacy and no longer fitting in when in social situations. I am even feeling like this when I am in the estrogen part of the cycle.

My doctor suggested the mirena coil but I don't really want this procedure - surely there's a better way? Can anyone recommend any alternatives? I will be speaking to my doctor in a couple of weeks to discuss options.

Femoston (which I've used for 6 months) has relieved most of my hot flushes and made me less tired and less explosively tempered, but done FA for my mood, confidence or libido.

Is it testosterone we lack, OP?! Did your doctor mention it?

I have heard of women getting a burst of energy and confidence from it, but I believe it is very hard to get prescribed. Depends on the doctor.

I was on femostan for 18 months, it was awful. I would get sick every 4 weeks, not just a cold but flu like symptoms. Please go and speak to your GP, it was trial and error but I changed tablets a few times but found what worked. You do not have to suffer . I'm now on Klimofem (sp) and they are great but they might want to put you on a dual tablet . Good luck, stick with HRT, as when it works it's amazing

I've been on Femoston for 9 months. It has stopped all my night sweats, hot flushes and urinary urgency.

For a while it stopped my spots and improved my moods, but the mood improvement is only in the oestrogen phase. I consistently feel on edge during the progesterone phase. Just recently all bets are off on the mood front, my bleeds have got irregular and my spots have come back with a vengeance.

Spoke to my doctor about it. Initially she mentioned going onto the stronger Femoston but when I said my moods were more important than having a regular bleed we decided to look at something else. Probably constant oestrogen by tablet plus vaginal progesterone. I'll be seeing her after I've had my Covid jab, which is imminent.

I started on femostan, but couldn't tolerate the progesterone phase at all .Have moved to gel oestrogen and tablets of Utrogestan which is much better for my mood. Slight PM's symptoms, but not the constant rage I had previously.
